Adventures on the Sea Screamer in Panama City Beach, Florida!

Sea Screamer headed out the jetty pass at St. Andrews State Park into the Gulf of Mexico.

Experience the Thrills of the Sea Screamer in Panama City Beach!

Living in a condo overlooking St Andrews Marina and Bay, and being a frequent visitor to St Andrews State Park, I've had the pleasure of watching the Sea Screamers in action countless times. These boats tour the bay, jetty pass, and gulf, offering passengers an unforgettable adventure. From my vantage points, I love photographing their journeys and seeing how much fun everyone has. This summer, I decided it was time to join in on the fun. I took my family on a Sea Screamer adventure, and I'm excited to share our experience with you, along with some practical tips if you plan to embark on this adventure too.

Booking Your Adventure

First things first, head over to the Sea Screamer ticket booth and boarding area located at 3605 Thomas Drive @ Treasure Island Marina, Panama City Beach, FL 32408. Reservations are highly recommended to secure your spot on the tour of your choice. You can get exact pricing and make reservations online at Sea Screamer or by phone at (850) 235-3000. We took the 12 pm tour and paid $29 plus tax. Don't forget to tip the crew—they're fantastic!

Practical Tips

  1. Operating Months: February through December.

  2. Boats: Two identical boats with different captains and crews.

  3. Arrival: Plan to arrive 30 minutes before departure.

  4. Parking: Adequate, with the longest walk about 100 yards.

  5. Waiting Area: Shade is a premium on hot days.

  6. Boarding: All party members must be present to receive boarding passes. Boarding is orderly by group number.

  7. Photos: Taken as you board and available for purchase upon return.

  8. Seating: Options in full sun or shaded mid-section. Standing is allowed, except at the very front.

  9. Refreshments: Drinks available on board (beer, soda, and water) at reasonable prices.

The Adventure Begins

Our trip focused on the Gulf of Mexico and did not enter St Andrews Bay, though other trips may vary. The route depends on the specific tour and weather conditions. Be sure to check with the ticket office if you have specific sights in mind. Tours are categorized as dolphin cruises and sunset cruises, with dolphin sightings being a highlight on all trips.

Our Sea Screamer Experience

IT WAS GREAT! As a family (retired couple and adult kids/spouses), we all had a fantastic time. The weather was perfect—sunny with calm waters. The boat was top-notch: well-maintained, smooth-riding, fast, and fun. Here are some highlights:

  • Dolphin Watching: Seeing dolphins swim near the boat was magical.

  • Scenic Cruise: We cruised along the beach, enjoying the stunning water and beachfront views.

  • Engaging Commentary: The captain provided entertaining and informative commentary, accompanied by great music.

  • Interactive Fun: Kids (and some "big kids") got to drive the boat and have their pictures taken.

  • Blue Crab Harvesting: We stopped to check a crab trap, and the kids got to hold some local blue crabs.

  • Dolphin Show: The captains of both Sea Screamers worked together to get dolphins to jump in the wakes—a truly unforgettable sight.

Final Thoughts

The combination of Panama City Beach's beauty, the high-quality boat, the crew's hospitality, and the well-executed activities made this an incredibly enjoyable trip and a great value for the price. Now, every time I see one of the Sea Screamers from my condo or the park, I smile, knowing just how much fun those passengers are having.

So, if you're in Panama City Beach and looking for a high-energy adventure, the Sea Screamer is a must-do. Happy cruising!
