Photographing Historic St Andrews

Why I Share My Photographs of Historic St. Andrews

St. Andrews has a soul all its own — a mix of grit, beauty, and a kind of honesty you don’t find everywhere. My goal as a photographer is to capture that spirit — the people, the places, and the salty character that make this waterfront village what it is. I’m drawn to the moments that define life along the bay: a tugboat doing its work in the bay, a pelican diving for its meal, or a fisherman throwing a cast net into the shallows. I love the energy that fills the streets when a local band fires up a crowd of visitors and locals alike, or when the day fades and the sky over the bay turns gold and crimson at sunset. Crowds gather along the sidewalks, waiting to get into the local restaurants, laughter and conversation spilling into the warm coastal air.

But beyond the stories, I’m equally inspired by the beauty of St. Andrews — both natural and human. The reflections of boats and buildings shimmering on the water at night, the ever-changing colors of the sky, the sea and shore birds walking the docks or soaring overhead — all tell their own quiet story. And then there are the people — genuine, unfiltered, content to be exactly who they are. That realness, both rugged and kind, is what I strive to capture in every frame.

To those who live here and those just passing through — take a moment to look around and really see what this fishing village has to offer. Go beyond simply observing. Be part of it. Add your best to the ever-evolving fabric of this remarkable place. Whether you call St. Andrews home or you’ve only discovered it for a day, I hope these photographs inspire you to see it with new eyes — or remind you of the best moments you experienced when you were here.

Because the story of St. Andrews isn’t finished — it’s being written every single day. And as you browse the photos on this site, remember: this website isn’t finished either. I’ll keep adding images from the past and new ones from the events still to come, as the story of St. Andrews continues to unfold.
